Son Goku, No, I've got an aDSL connection that goes through an ethernet card in the computer. Networking was disabled in the CC on the last couple of WUs, but it was not disabled on the first several (even under the new CC). This was because I resumed the CPDN coupled WU, and want to see how things progress, without allowing it to report back if it goes bonckers/giving myself time to restore a backup of it. Is that a problem? |

I ditched this one: https://ralph.bakerlab.org/workunit.php?wuid=77761 Result: https://ralph.bakerlab.org/result.php?resultid=85591 I had it running for more than 3 hours at still about 1.5%. So I've started on a fresh one https://ralph.bakerlab.org/workunit.php?wuid=79197, that looks more reasonable in time. Son Goku, Do you use a proxy server? The reason I ask is, in the stacktraces your machine is generating, it keeps saying that it is using exported symbols. Exported symbols are only used when the debugger fails to actually connect up to MS to download the needed symbol files. Right now the debugger isn't paying attention to the setting that are in BOINC, but I was hoping for better results for those with full time internet connections. I would like to figure out the problem is to see if I can programatically fix it. |

I've got Windows firewall enabled... For the browser, I do have a local ad blocking proxy setup, but BOINC itself isn't setup to go through "local host: 8080", so don't suspect that should come into play. Given that BOINC itself is set for a direct connection out to the Internet, about the only 3 things I can think of are: - Windows firewall in Service Pack 2 set to enabled... Unfortunately, just blasting a whole through local security on my PC isn't much to my liking. Yes, I have experienced the shananagins from some script kiddies in the past  Perhaps I could make an exception for a program or 2, in the local policies, but wouldn't just want to take PC security down... - About to expire on the current version but Kaspersky 6.0 Release Candidate. - networking disabled in BOINC itself at the time it's crashing. Though networking itself is up... |

Son Goku, If your willing, could you install: http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols/debuggers/dbg_x86_6.5.3.8.exe If the symbol problem goes away, then that means the installation program is writing some registry value I need to find. Thanks in advance. |

OK, will do, and then will grab a couple more WUs... If per chance, it doesn't (lets keep fingers crossed), and it's a registry value, we could also try manually adding it through registry editor, as long as the specific key, and values and all are known. Edit: OK, it's installed, I rebooted (even though it didn't ask for one), and have 9 RALPH WUs, using the new 5.0 beta from the look of it... |

Note. Version 5.00 of Resetta_beta is out, so I guess abort and recieve. Also Rom has requested if people could use the newer Boinc clients 5.4.x (as it aids in debugging) |

I’m currently crunching on HBLR_1.0_1di2_378_65_1 with program version 4.99 and it has been crunching on this for 8h 30 min now, however it is only 1.08% complete. Boinc manager claims that it will take an additional 17 hrs to complete, but that time keeps going up. 9 hrs to go 2% is a rather long time for this type of project. Should I abort this? ~TM Edit: I just noticed on another computer of mine, after 17h15m it is only 1.34% complete. The process name is HBLR_1.0_1ogw_375_58_1. Are these new projects supposed to take much longer than before? If so, then its ok, I was just wondering if there was some errant loop it was going into or if there is just that much more processing going on. |

Well, so far under beta 5.0 beta, the HBLR_* and other WUs have completed successfully. So either the problem was nicked, at least for this comp, or well I'll increase the time setting in RALPH and see... Two hour timing works fine for me with 5.0 beta. So far so good. I think a lot of the problems showed up earlier in the previous calculations (where it got stuck), so the fact that I completed two hours with no issues seems to be a good omen. Btw, how do I set my right margin on these forums? My right margin is way off the screen to the right, and it never was like that before. |
