i see in the rosie graphics the same size of boxes for low energy and native models as those here on ralph. 6cm for low energy and 7cm for native(not including the extra mm's) on both rosie and here on ralph. the low energy model here on ralph looks a bit close to the top of the box vs rosie. but then again its hard to compare two different proteins and their rotations to each other.

i am noticing that the top of the model for low energy is getting clipped by the title bar here on ralph. this is in the 1.54 rosie and the 1.56 ralph. I also started my first 1.58 and see the same dimensions and the same issue that the top of whatever strand is at the top of the low energy box gets a few mm's cut off of it if it happens to be a ribbon strand that is in a long vertical loop. in stick form the model fits into the box. box size did not change.

Feet1st, both ralph and rosie open the graphics in a reduced window on my system and i am running wide screen 1680 x1050.

once i click on the the windows box to bring it to full screen it does.

theres no beta stuff here.
rosie gave me one beta 5.98 that i already completed.
that particular program comes around every now and then.
rosie is spitting out mini 1.54 now and here is 1.55 and 1.56

since we are on 1.56 now, should there be a new thread for that?

btw..very interesting color choice for the accepted energy line and the other line above the rmsd box. what does the blue and yellow mean and isn't there a purplish color in there as well?

just completed 2 of the 1.56 tasks with no problems on 4 hr run time.

Not Paul but just came from Einstein so think I think I remember right where to look

It's a long thread so for the short, extremely lucid version go straight to Gary Roberts

Hope this helps.

Snags

we had a discussion about lockfile problem in rosie. I can't seem to find the thread(s) related to that. essentially it was just deleting the file from the slots folder where the file/folder equaled 0 bytes. once you cleaned that up and restarted boinc and had all your usual settings of memory and the such set up then it seemed to go away. also with boinc 6.4.5 the problem went away. but this was mostly with windows machines.

Kinda makes me jealous ...

All mine are working fine ... even the ones I am running on windows ...

First two tasks for me ran ok, the next two are running ok so far with about 30 minutes left.

Please mister, can I have some more?

Can't test the version with no work to do ... :)

No worries - there shall be more work soon. I'm preparring another update.

I just got 25 new tasks after changing my allocation percentage.

Is this due to the current updates being sent only to machines of specific types, or due to a very small number of people actually currently trying to be active in RALPH@home (I'd guess around 500)?

Here's some numbers

BOINC Stats for RALPH

642 active users out of 3073

HTH

I got caught behind a ton of work in my buffer for Ralph and then ran up a big debt load to rosie. I have shrunk my buffer size since then. When there is work available I should get it automatically and be active in testing again.

Feet1st , this is awesome - debugging on an unprecedented level :) Nice to get an idea of what all this looks like from your point of view.

These docking tasks are new and not mine - lemme track down the person submiting these and make sure the graphics app can deal with it.

Mike

I've seen a number of other reports of the screen saver/graphic just displaying as a black window. And I had always assumed people just weren't waiting long enough for the display to refresh. It does often take a long time, and I always assumed this was due to the allowed % of CPU time for the graphic. But, on the other hand, this wasn't an issue before about 2 or 3 months ago.

I meant to point out that the screenshot shows the graphic thread has used 4:02 of CPU time, but the corresponding Ralph thread is shown with only 2:11 of CPU received so far. So the % CPU shown in the screenshot is only the last interval, but you can see from the totals that the number is roughly what it's been during the entire 4 minutes the task has been running.

I was wondering if perhaps the graphic could always display at least it's grid lines, and text immediately, and perhaps a "protein information being retrieved... please wait" message in the frames. That way at least it would never just be "blank".

Cool idea...I would love to see that as well.

I don't see that in my boinc manager

You can find it in your slots directory. (v6.2.19) You will find the boinc_checkpoint_count file. Open it and you will see how many checkpoints you have. Also there is a list of the checkpoints.

My work unit has been running for for about 34 minutes and I have accumulated 43 checkpoints.

thanks for the info evan.
found the file, in 3 hrs+ run time one task accumulated 561 so far and the other 305. that's a pretty healthy number for 3 hrs. feet1st looks easy enough. i may try that later. thanks

mtyka - now into the 1.50 tasks and so far no errors on any of the tasks sent to my system.
