I posted this once on the main Rosetta boards... But basically, could we get even just a slight change every few minutes in the pixel location of the grids and text? Even though screen burn-in is largely a thing of the past, it -IS- still a problem, ESPECIALLY IF I OUTPUT TO MY PLASMA TV!!!!!! SoOoOoo... if we could move the grid & text by a few pixels every couple mins that would be great. P.S. - I also realize we should be thankful there even IS a screensaver. Not to mention it looks totally awesome, and is the best BOINC screensaver by far. |

there's also a problem with the native structure the center of rotation is not in the center of the structure, so when it's rotated it becomes hidden by the other panels |

Another screensaver issue for the to-do list: If the screen is an odd shape the graphic is in the upper left corner rather than centered in the available space. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

Another screensaver issue for the to-do list:when you say odd shape do you mean unusual resolutions? I also have this question. What do you mean by odd shape? Most screens are either 4:5 or 16:9 aspect ratio. Is yours different? As to the position of the grafics, if you click the expand button the grafics pane will fill the screen, and it will be centered when it does. When it first opens, it is just in a window suitable for display and movement to the place of your choice. Moderator9 RALPH@home FAQs RALPH@home Guidelines Moderator Contact |

I've noticed that on my AMD643700 with 6800 pci express video card and 17" Mitsubishi flat screen that the accepted energy graph runs off the top of the display box as the quantity of accepted energy reaches about -30 (this happens during the AB initio stage). This is a scaling function issue I believe (I.E the scale is to small at the beginning, and as the data goes more negative the positive portions of the graph disappear under the "searching" and "accepted" boxes. I don't recall seeing this on my P4 1.8 S3 graphics and same monitor model. There's one running on my AMD64 3700 laptop now, I'll keep an eye on it the laptop display seems to auto scale the y axis on the "accepted energy" graph, where as the other puter didn't, but I'll need more work to confirm this issue. I'll get back to you later tony |

Another screensaver issue for the to-do list:when you say odd shape do you mean unusual resolutions? I think you mean 4:3 and 16:9 (4:5 would be taller than it is wide lol) but you can set a 16:9 res on a 4:3 and a 4:3 on a 16:9 , and a veriety of other combinations my monitor is 4:3 but my displayed res is 1280x1024 which is 5:4 |

just noticed the native structure rotates around its center now and does not look flat when you rotate it away from its default view anymore, you can even zoom now, nice work. (was working like that with my last 2 WUs, now i got none left anymore too :/) |

Oops I was wrong, my P4 1.8 does indeed scroll off the upper y axis like my other one. NOTE: I witnessed this one on a regular rosetta wu. |

Another screensaver issue for the to-do list:when you say odd shape do you mean unusual resolutions? Forgive the typo. It is late here and for some reason my fingers got faster than my brain for a second. 4:3 is correct. Moderator9 RALPH@home FAQs RALPH@home Guidelines Moderator Contact |

Another screensaver issue for the to-do list:when you say odd shape do you mean unusual resolutions? The screensaver is in a 4:3 format. If you have a 16:9 screen it is at the left side of the screen. If you have a tall screen it is at the top of the screen. I would prefer it to be centered in cases where the screen dimension is larger that the graphic dimension. The fix for this could also be used for the burn-in concern as well. If the graphic dimesion is made slighly smaller than the available screen size it could be moved a few pixels vertically and horizontally every minute or so. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

Another screensaver issue for the to-do list:when you say odd shape do you mean unusual resolutions? I use both screen form factors and I like it just like it is. It automatically resizes to the correct format if you run it as a screen saver. If you don't then you can make it any size you want/need. Regards Phil |

And btw, I just accidentally found out today (I never played with the graphics part of R) that by holding down the left-mouse-button and moving the mouse around you can rotate the 3D "native" protein and with the right-mouse-button held down and moving, you can zoom-in-out. Nice! Edit: Reading the other folks' comments more carefully, it seems everyone knew this feature all along <blush>. |

And with middle mousebutton or mousewheel pressed you can move it around (even out of the borders). :D |

knew it could be rotated, but didn't know about moving or zooming, i wish they had said that on the graphics explanation page!holding down the left-mouse-button and moving the mouse around you can rotate the 3D "native" protein and with the right-mouse-button held down and moving, you can zoom-in-out.And with middle mousebutton or mousewheel pressed you can move it around (even out of the borders) Want to search the BOINC Wiki, BOINCstats, or various BOINC forums from within firefox? Takes very long in the end of a model stage in screensaver, not freezing but very very slow...the completion time is not right (5h) on my 3,2Ghz P4 HT, I think the running time will be 10h (Barcode.xxx). |
