Hi,

what's the average work unit size (MB)? what's the average result size?

Thanks!

You can get a rough idea by looking at the BOINC Wiki for Rosetta. But the problem is the sizes vary quite a bit. It depends upon the size of the protein being studied and the success rate you have with the models your PC runs on it. The Wiki shows the upload as being 17KB, I'm seeing them come in closer to 100KB, but then I typically crunch a single WU for 24hrs.

If you're asking the question, I take it you have only a limited bandwidth. You might wish to increase the "size" of the WUs you crunch by changing the setting in your Rosetta (or Ralph) Preferences. Increasing the "size" just means that you'd like to run more models against each WU you download, thus downloading less frequently, and yet still delivering many model runs back to the project. You can read more about the WU size preference setting in the Ralph FAQ here. There's a more complete explaination in the Rosetta FAQ here.

Crunch more Rosetta! (and Ralph!)
