Message 6543 - Posted: 24 Apr 2018, 12:01:25 UTC - in response to Message 6542.
Last modified: 24 Apr 2018, 12:02:20 UTC

The application listing shows 32 Bit is supposed to work, it does NOT.

My question is the "Rosetta Mini" work units run without an issue, on both 32 bit and 64 bit, but the new "Rosetta" work units fail on the 32 bit. So I am asking again, what has changed to cause the problem?

Conan

Seems that no one of admins are interested of your issues..... :-(

Yes boboviz, you seem to be right.

I have this same message running over at Rosetta as well as here and I am getting the same response.

This issue was reported on the Rosetta forum back on the 1st of Feb 2018, and still no response and no fix has been forthcoming.

You try and help these projects as much as you can, but when you can't get reponses from the people running the projects then you have to say to yourself "Why Bother".

32 Bit Rosetta work units are still failing to run on my 32 bit XP Windows machine.

The older Rosetta Mini work units run without an issue.

Have had no response from Admin about this since April, and it is still not fixed.

The applications don't start as they have the following error

couldn't start app: CreateProcess() failed - (unknown error)

Something has chamged with this latest batch of work units, only getting 10% to 12% of the normal credit, just 29 credits for 6 hours work.

Example this work unit

I just finished processing 24 work units and all of them have only given me around 30 credits each for 6 hour of work each.

That is 720 credits for 144 hours of processor time, that is 5 credits per hour.

What happened to the credit?

I have helped this project since it started but at this pay rate I rather help someone else.

Admin please take a look into this please.

Well if it is affecting me then it could affecting others, so that is why I am letting them know what is going on.
After all this is their test project so they should be more aware what is happening here before they stuff up the main Rosetta project.

But as you said they are a bit slow around here in responding to our posts.

There was a post on the 24/4/18 saying they were going to look into the 32 bit failure rate issue, but nothing has happened and my work units still fail on 32 bit (only the Rosetta ones, the Rosetta Mini ones are fine).

Uh, now i see that post. But i think the only one who can resolve your problem about 32 bit is Dekim (developer and debugger of the project).
P.S. I referred to dekim when i wrote "december 2017"

Just had 19 failures on an Linux 64 bit machine with this Error Process got signal 11

No idea why, they failed within a minute of starting.

They all downloaded with an estimated run time of 1 hour, my preferences are set for 6 hours.

See This WU for example

Looks like whoever wrote the message on 24/4/18 is still waiting for information on which versions of Windows were used for the 32 bit failures. If so, there's no point in complaining about lack of another message or fix until more people supply this information.

I just had a failure for Rosetta v4.07 windows_intelx86 under 64-bit Windows.

G'Day Robert,
I was not complaining, I was bringing back to the forefront of awareness a problem which dates back to at least the beginging of Feburary (2018).
32 Bit Rosetta work units have been failing for many months, but no fix yet.

They fail on both Ralph and Rosetta, as the administrators of the Rosetta project have not used their test project Ralph properly before releasing work on the main project.
The problems are supposed to be fixed here first then released to Rosetta.

Other problems were listed here about Linux work units as well but still they went ahead and released work on Rosetta.

So now they have a lot more people complaing (over at Rosetta) about failing work units (32 bit, 64 bit, Windows and Linux) because they did not seem to take heed of what the test project was telling them.

We try to help these people but if they don't take action on what we report then the results will be poor.

So just trying to help the Project, as I have been doing since the test project was launched.

Have a great day.
