A volunteer on R@H proposed some VM's optimizations:
- multiattach of virtual disk
- shrink of virtual disk
- change virtual disk controller from IDE to Sata (better perfomances)

Another volunteer proposed to abandon VM using PyInstaller to run app natevely, obviously with better performances and less problems for volunteers.

Both the suggestions are quite easy to implement, so Rosetta@Home will NOT implement these.

Other projects, like LHC@Home are implementing this function (thanks to new virtualbox wrapper)

Seems that boinc developers decide to choose another way...

David Anderson:

Future
? Run apps in Docker natively (no VBox)
? Detect Docker in client, use a wrapper
? Move boinc2docker into BOINC
? Windows: conflict with VBox :-(
