Why there is not a option ?
"Use OpenGl for Graphics" yes/no

I have not yet received any ralph WU,
but when I play Quake2 on my computer

The quake2 command /timerefresh
shows that I am about 220 Frames per second
and each frame is 1024 x 768 pixels
true color, 32 bits per pixel

at same time, the command taskinfo2000
that I run on a remote service terminal from my pc
shows quake2.exe consuming about 6% of CPU
to do that 220 fps.

Thus,
I wonder why 20% CPU minimum for graphics
and dismay when I see upto 50% cpu is allowed
for scrensaver

*Unless u are offloading cpu into gpu ?

What you suggest would be more efficient on some machines, but the code is written to be generic and allow BOINC to control the grafics functions. If the code were customized as you suggest there would have to be a version for every kind of grafics card, and BOINC would not be able to control the grafics features in the same way.

Yeah, u are right , cause we have only "work school home" to select
*To OpenGl works OK, that setting must be by pc !!!

*BOINC should *not* be able to control graphic cards
*Only use OpenGl -or- not use OpenGL

-> OpenGl is the sofware that control graphics devices
If this was not this way, games writters,
will have to write a different version of the same game to each graphics card
