One of mine just errored out......... First one to post after this gets it.......... [Tosses WU high into the air] Edit: And the winner was............Paintman1 Anyone know why the server status page says there is 1 WU ready to send even though there is no more work available. It says the same for all projects when they get into this situation......gives us false hope :) www.chris-kent.co.uk aka Chief.com |

1) I know regular rosetta doesn't utilitize redundancy 2) I know I've seen many posts from users in the regular message boards listing troubled WUs. 3) I know they are low on work in Ralph 4) I don't know how work is generated in Ralph Given these things, I have an idea. Why not utilize the redundancy, the suspected bad WUs on message board, and the device which doesn't send a copy of the same WU to the same user, and generate say 6 or more copies of each suspect WU and send them out. This would make more work, let others see if the reported problem exists, and if so on what systems. etc, etc, etc. tony Formerly mmciastro. Glad it's not just me! Waited 2.5 hrs with 14 'No work from project' messages returned already. In one way it's good we are getting enough volunteers but, on the other hand, please can we have some more work units made available. I'm running it split 50/50 with rosetta@home, will it automatically keep returning to rosetta units till it finds some work from Ralph? I'd hate my PC to sit doing nothing just because there is no work available from one of the projects. |

BOINC will keep track of the fact that it is running one project much more than you have specified, and once the down project comes back BOINC will run that for a while until it catches up. Thus, over the long term BOINC will split up the computers time the way you asked. |

THIS IS A TEST PROJECT. THERE WILL BE NO WORK UNITS AVAILABLE AT TIMES. THEY GET ISSUED WHEN NECESSARY FOR TESTING. PLEASE SET THE RESOURCE SHARE LOW FOR THIS TEST PROJECT SO PRODUCTION PROJECTS GET HIGHER PRIORITY This project is not for science, credits, or other competitive statistics, but only for testing to make our production project, Rosetta@home, better. |

THIS IS A TEST PROJECT. THERE WILL BE NO WORK UNITS AVAILABLE AT TIMES. THEY GET ISSUED WHEN NECESSARY FOR TESTING. PLEASE SET THE RESOURCE SHARE LOW FOR THIS TEST PROJECT SO PRODUCTION PROJECTS GET HIGHER PRIORITY There is a bug IMHO in the BOINC client that leeds to a request for far too much work for low ressource projects (esp. after a project ran "dry" of WUs). Is it possible to change the server for RALPH so that only one WU is distributed, ignoring the seconds the client asked for? This would prevent those "large cache by accident" and would give you shorter turnaround times. Norbert |

Hello. First, I feel sufficiently bludgeoned with the concept that this is a test project and there will be times there are no wu's. I am just unfamiliar with the note below and I'm concerned I may have screwed up my prefs or something. Of course, this note could be that there aren't any wu's available...;-} I have read the faq's, the boinc wiki, and all the threads on these boards without seeing anything that looks like an answer to this issue. I joined ralph 2 days ago and have yet to get a wu (again I say that's ok if normal, just doing a quick sanity check). 2/20/2006 2:03:03 PM|ralph@home|Sending scheduler request to https://ralph.bakerlab.org/ralph_cgi/cgi 2/20/2006 2:03:03 PM|ralph@home|Reason: Requested by user 2/20/2006 2:03:03 PM|ralph@home|Note: not requesting new work or reporting results 2/20/2006 2:03:08 PM|ralph@home|Scheduler request to https://ralph.bakerlab.org/ralph_cgi/cgi succeeded 2/20/2006 2:22:33 PM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op I am running only rosetta and ralph on this cpu. rosetta is set to 100 and ralph is set to 10 (resource share) I have 41 rosetta wu's cached (too many, I've set rosetta to no new work until I clear some of the backlog out - I am set to connect every 3 days) everything else is set to defaults, I think.
