(Message 1259)
Posted 19 Apr 2006 by Carlos_Pfitzner Post: Well , I cannot find a bug reports thread to Linux 5.00 Thus, I am posting here ! This PC, 256 MB RAM, Pentium III 500 MHZ, has sucessfully completed this. http://ralph.bakerlab.org/result.php?resultid=88940 Now it is crunching this WU, that appears stuck? at 1.14% - 2:57 Hours CPUtime http://ralph.bakerlab.org/result.php?resultid=90223 However cause this PC is slooow ... I feel I should allow some more time before reporting "stuck" -:! Anyway, If 5.01 starts comming on, I will abort this result, else, Ill allow more time to decide if it is really stuck, or if is I that are impacient. ! BTW: Wich debugger I need to Install on my Linux PCs ? |

So, I expected to see my clients crunch with 5.01 and checked them again, seeing they got fresh 5.00 ... A project reset should force the new version 5.01 be downloaded |

Humm 5.00 was good enough for me ... u may finish them to not lose the credits of that ones partially crunched, however I will abort all my 5.00 WUs that did not started crunching yet, so, I can start testing the new version 5.01 asap ! ps: Why u did not reported that 5.00 crashed into the 5.00 bugs thread ? with a link to each result. this way-> url-of-the-crashed-result Anyway, would be nice Installing the debugger -or- at least upgrading u boinc http://ralph.bakerlab.org/forum_thread.php?id=166 *Read all thread |

Posted 18 Apr 2006 by Carlos_Pfitzner Post: Feet1st, The "no finished file" message means Boinc.exe (the daemon), lost contact with Boincmgr.exe (the manager). The move to a network drive may have something to do with it. I assume the manager in on a local puter and the daemon is on the network drive. Sure ? I see this occurs on *all* projects I crunch when my 2gbit Internet link is overloaded by excess of network traffic. However is the boinc.exe (the daemon) that lost contact with the science crunching application, cause the O/S was unable to service the loopback link. Normally IP 127.0.0.1 Boincmgr.exe is irrelevant to this occurrence. In fact I run boincview.exe instead of boincmgr.exe And If this is a bug , is a bug of boinc , not of rosetta. Also all those jobs that exited, with zero status, but no 'finished' file, later are automatically re-started by boinc. No loss ! I did STOPed crunching Rosetta 4.98 on my PC's cause that 4.98 errors ! So now, on a thread to report 5.00 bugs, 4.98 bugs are mixed. While furter delays on upgrading Rosetta are achieved, I crunch other projects, no problems. lol btw: Where is the required link for that rosetta 4.98 result that erroed ? |

Posted 18 Apr 2006 by Carlos_Pfitzner Post: mmciastro the current version is Rosetta_beta 5.00 Why are u reporting bugs of old versions here ? If u want to finish u old version jobs, u are free to do it, however I believe that cause version 4.99 had obvious bugs, this will only increase u credit loss. Better, u abort all of them, and help us testing the current version that is available to windows mac and linux. but do what u think is right -:( ps: If possible do not post more bugs of *obsolete* versions. This only servers to confuse developers, that believe this way that there is still the 1% bug ... and thus, delay them on making 5.00 the production version of Rosetta. Thanks |

IMHO: 1) Install this debugger! may be they find the bugs better http://ralph.bakerlab.org/forum_thread.php?id=166 *read all thread 2) Abort all WUs u have of rosetta_beta 4.99 and earlier versions we are now testing 5.00 ! *Is a nonsense continue testing alpha versions of *OLD/obsolete* stuff! |

RALPH Version News! - Version 4.99 (Windows) released!
(Message 1192)
Posted 16 Apr 2006 by Carlos_Pfitzner Post: (I tried to make these into links, with no success.) u only need to type your url I hope they upgrade to phpbb2 -:) your urls http://ralph.bakerlab.org/workunit.php?wuid=78685 http://ralph.bakerlab.org/workunit.php?wuid=78717 http://ralph.bakerlab.org/workunit.php?wuid=78686 So, the question is here, should these be aborted, especially given the fact that 5.00 is out? 5.00 was out no more WUs by now. The few I crunched, worked pretty well I had not time to test it on Linux ... may be they make some more WUs soon When a new version is out, immediatelly I abort all WUs of previous version, and I lost the credits of the ones that are partially crunched, and I aborted. As 4.99 was that too bad, trying to finish that WUs, I believe will only increase your credit loss, however do what u feel is right ps: Install the debugger ! may be they find the bugs better http://ralph.bakerlab.org/forum_thread.php?id=166 *read all the thread |

Posted 14 Apr 2006 by Carlos_Pfitzner Post: Over the last couple of weeks I've been adding features to the BOINC Windows Debugger, which is based on Microsoft's DBGHELP.DLL and Stackwalker. OK, then I will grab the new DBGHELP.DLL that comes with 5.4.x, and replace it on my boinc 5.2.13 folder. Unless this does not work at all after I reboot, there will the new debugger available. BTW: Why Microsoft does not update DBGHELP.DLL via Windows/Microsoft Update ? I have service pack 4 installed , and are up-to-date with every update ! |
